About this publication

An introduction, with the uncertainty left in.

WHAT-IS.SI is an independent English-language field guide to AI, AGI and superintelligence. It explains the vocabulary, the distinctions and the questions behind the headlines.

§ 1 — Purpose

What this guide is for

The site is intended for readers seeking a clear starting point, not specialist research findings. It does not claim academic authority, institutional affiliation or endorsement by the organisations named in its reading notes.

The name asks “What is SI?” Here, SI means superintelligence. AI, AGI and ASI are explained as related concepts, without turning every difference in terminology into a separate technology.

§ 2 — Transparency

How AI tools were used

AI tools were used to draft and revise the explanations and to assist with the site implementation. AI assistance can introduce errors, omissions or misleading simplifications. It is not a substitute for primary research or expert advice.

No fictional individual author or academic credential is attached to the articles. The publication name identifies the site responsible for the material, not a research institution.

§ 3 — Evidence

How to read the material

Definitions are separated from observations about systems and from hypotheses about future development. Where terminology is contested, the disagreement is stated rather than hidden.

Reading notes link to relevant original research, public assessments or technical frameworks. A philosophical argument can explain why a scenario matters without proving that it will happen. A benchmark can support a specific capability claim without proving general intelligence.

The guide is not a live model leaderboard. Claims about a new release should be checked against its evaluations and the definition being used. Timelines and possible pathways to superintelligence are treated as uncertain.

§ 4 — Corrections

Errors and clarifications

If an explanation is incorrect or a source no longer supports it, please use the contact details in the legal notice below. Identify the page and the passage, and include the relevant evidence so the issue can be assessed.

§ 5 — Domain notice

The domain is also available for purchase

The domain-sale notice is separate from the educational purpose of the guide. The site does not claim verified traffic, search rankings or recommendations from AI systems.

Read the domain notice for the Sedo listing. Offering the domain for sale does not make the explanations a claim of commercial or academic authority.
